Yes, had a little help from Bobby Julich as well.... Not bad for an old man.

actually, I thought it was a pedestrian crosswalk - I've seen that in a number of cities, "PED" to indicate a crosswalk coming up ... (but still funny, given the context).

If SS can't get Farrar in the jersey today, something's wrong.

Hmm, a bit prophetic that comment, as it seemed that he couldn't hang on to Cavendish's wheel several times in that sprint (most noticeably when Cavendish powered away - too bad Cav didn't realize Ciolek wasn't with him and slowed down/looked back).

But, it is more likely an official stencil in each lane to warn of a Pedestrian crossing up ahead. California is on steriods over pedestrian crossings and laws concerning them.

I saw another one today at some point in the stage - this time there was "SLOW SLOW" then "PED PED" then "XING XING" on the road...

That's just too much. I would have thought it impossible to get a perfect official double entendre like that etched on the road for the helicopter camera.

SLOW SLOW.... PED PED .... XING XING. ....

Maybe if the "X" was a "Z", but then it wouldn't have made sense as a road marking...

When I saw the finish of the race today, I thought it was a hell of a tactic. The luxury of having 2 sprinters, everyone thought Cavendish was leading out Ciolek, but Ciiolek let the gap open up and that's when Cavendish went for the line. Then I though, "they tried that way the hell too early!" So what was it, on purpose or an accident? He almost won the stage, just didn't have quite enough.
