Default DiLuca A.K.A. The Count of Monte Cristo

He's going to win the Tour de France as revenge.

Looks like it could be a ploy to get UCI on his side thinking if they give him a doping pass, he will be able to embarrass ASO.

IIRC, this was posted before. And as noted in that thread, he has to be invited first to be able to win the Tour - big caveat that he has overlooked.

Why ?
No invitation to his team and no embarrass for his team... Probably teams would break their link with such riders to avoid a non-invitation.

So Leakygas will not be invited... because of some connection to doping... and Di Luca's comments are grounds for a non-invite... Hmmmm.... so where do you draw the line on invite criteria? That's for ASO to know and us to find out I suppose, since they will never explicitly type out the criteria.

I hope they have good info on which teams are sanctioning internal dope programs and they are not just throwing their weight around settling petty personal vendettas. Because nearly all teams have some connection to doping or a doper.

It was rather stupid of him to make a statement in the press. Why not win it first, then rub it in?

I must have missed it.

DiLuca is riding for LPR this year, Liquigas does get invited to ASO races.

Did LPR make it on the UCI wildcard list? I don't remember.

Yeah... they have already been announced as one of the invited teams for this year's race... so what's this about him not getting the chance to win???...

I've got my doubts that he could win the Tour anyhow.

May I ask why him in particular. Sure, it is obvious he dopes, and wins, like a few other guys... just curious...

Dunno if you will get a real answer Pete. These guys have strong likes and dislikes which are irrational. For instance, why would the folk in The Cult worship Astana and equate it to an American team, and hate the guts of Slipstream which is more of an American team? Ok, we know it has something to do with Vaughters, etc. but still...
