Yeah, good piece. Bush is also going to veto the update to the GI Bill
because providing a better opportunity to go to college would harm
retention. I'm sure that most of you remember all the commercials
where they played up going to college while active, and getting it,
mostly, paid for as a big incentive. The realitry was, even then, that
duties really didn't allow the time to do it as the were "downsizing"
the military and almost everyone was running with massive manning
shortages, so it was a typical political promise. This time around
it's the Democrat/liberal folks, for whatever reason, looking out for
the troops out at the sharp end, and the Repoublicans and
administration looking out for the "perfumed princes" of the Pentagon,
and their corporate friends.
