Default Who is Italiano?

Who is Italiano?

- pretends to be Italian.
- speaks such contrived pidgin that he could be descendant from birds that shit all o'er the place.
- has quite insightful knowledge of DP and folks other handles on DP (for example he knows who C'dale Girl is on DP, was)

Cranky reckons he is Sydney polymath Veloflash. I am not confident. But he might have inside info. Perhaps C'dale Girl might know. I don't think Veloflash would use such clumsy pidgin even if he attempted to do a HelmetRule sockpuppet (forget the ex-NFL player character he concocted)

So who is he?

Here's a post from Mr. "Carnta speeka da Anglo" from December last year in the Health and Nutrition forum. Seems his lingual abilities might be getting scrambled by the CoQ10.

I voted 'other', but mine is not an informed opinion.

I don't care if italiano is Italian, Australian or Eritrean. I don't care who he really is, but he clearly doesn't want us to know. As with others on this board, for that reason, even if I did know his identity, I wouldn't advertise it.

But speculation in ignorance is invited, so here goes...

The quoted post you gave, Thunder, spelt 'tumor', not 'tumour', so he might be an American/Canadian/Victorian, or the automatic spell-checker has stuffed it up, but he is less likely to be English.

But his signature quote is from Damian Grammaticus, who is (I believe) a BBC journalist. I think unlikely to American on that score, more likely to be English or Commonwealth.

Certainly a native English speaker, even if he does speak Italian. Australian would fit all of the above.

Clearly a DP refugee, but there are many others here.

More pertinently, however... so what?

His posts are occasionally frustrating because the attempts to feign a lack of command of English can result in the post being unintelligible. But just because he hides from one anonymous handle under cover of another is no crime. I'd be interested to know what the handles of the DPF refugees here are, just because that'd be interesting, but they have their reasons for not disclosing them. That's their choice, not mine, and if italiano feels the need deliberately to sound like Papa Giuseppe, let him.

My gosh. I go away for the evening and you guys lose all control.

To my knowledge, veloflash hasn't been around these halls since last fall. Not really fair to call him out like that, when he's not even here to defend himself, assuming he's not lurking or coming around in any other capacity.

VF, if it is you, I think you should come clean so you can take a bow and come back and join the party; your sophisticated humor, as veloflash in the flesh, is missed.

T-man, you left yourself out of the options. I don't think you've been completely ruled out.

Between this thread and the Other Forum Follies thread, people have neglected to point out two more oddities. 1) Being married to an American and having American kids and yet not picking up on any English in the process. 2) How does a mere lurker at DPF have such a deep personal hatred for House?

He has gone the other way in posts too and used favour as opposed to favor (or something similar; can't recall the actual word).

I think you're missing a difference here though Drongo. Having anonymous handles, even from your previous anonymous handle at DPF is perfectly fine. And I for one support keeping anyone's anonymity that they wish to maintain. But, italiano was quick to PM others here and tell them other people's identities from DPF, trying to stir up trouble. And, he tried to make inferences outing others early on. So, I guess this is a bit of the same in return.

I for one don't care either way. I've given italiano enough hints in my posts to let him know that I know who he is, if he is who I think he is. If it is that person, I'm a bit disappointed in him and wonder why but, whatever, it is the net and we all have our different ways of using it for fun, games and stress release. Clearly, italiano doesn't have the same lack of patience and ADD as me though because this is a 6 month "joke" that still lacks the punchline at this point, so I'm not sure what he gets from it. Especially when I've dropped plenty of indications as to calling him on his game, IF it's who I think it is.

If it's not who I've hinted it to be (and only that person would get those hints), then I really don't care who it is. He's been pretty harmless in his posts the past few months. It is impossible to decipher his posts though when he conveniently forgets English, so I usually just jump on over them. (for thunder).

Agreed that VF is quite sophisticated and intelligent. If this was his game, I think he'd be doing a better job of acting italian . . . unless, he WANTED to be clumsy to incite speculation and get the game rolling.

And, I still feel bad speaking of VF when he's not an active member here as of late. He could be lurking though I suppose . . . if so, wassup spider?
