Thanks for the link. By the way, the crows at Vincennes are doing
well. It's amazing how they only come out when the guy who feeds them
is there and how they fly right to him. Apparently, Cynthia had a
baby.

That guy told me they're corneilles, not corbeaux, and they're
territorial enough that the ones on one side of the piste are
different from the ones on the other.

On the blog, I enjoyed his self-description:

which makes it sound like he's actually going to ride with the Tour
for one day.

challenges that are somehow food-related. In one of the more
loosely-tied episodes, he rides the last 120 km of the Alpe D'Huez (I
think the episode was filmed in '06) with Christian Vandevelde, then
eats his way out of the calorie debt.

Fair enough; he did the Medoc Marathon 10 days before the Alpe Ride.

That's not my point. The point is, I don't know Bob, but I had a chance
to briefly talk with him in January*, and he mentioned that in that
episode, Cervelo had provided him with the bike for the show.

Which he kept.

About a decade ago. Not much to tell. I ran a couple of categories,
won a bunch of money, and then had to eat lunch with the remaining
contestants, including those who would be my opponents in the next
round. Lunch conversation was about what you'd expect from Jeopardy
contestants. Since I was the defending champion I didn't have anything
to prove so I just ate my salad and watched the tension in the room
evolve. The better story is getting on the show.

Hey Robert, have you read Bob Harris' book, "Prisoner of Trebekistan"? For the
most part, it's about getting and being on Jeopardy. Good read, particularly the
parts about how he "studied" for the show.

Of course I know! Telling Canadians which entertainment personalities
are from Canada is like recounting Hampsten's glorious Gavia victory in
front of van Weteringe.

Test The Nation, which is a fairly ridiculous concept for a game show
that was developed in Europe and exported everywhere. CBC runs it as a
semi-annual (more or less) 2-hour show.

I appeared as part of the "Bloggers" team, and while I personally was
not near the top in-studio contenders, our team (of, ah, 36 or so) beat
every other group in the studio. Of course, we were competing against
Chefs, Taxi Drivers, Flight Crews, Backpackers, and Celebrity
Look-Alikes.

Since the bloggers were basically all Jeopardy wannabes who happened to
have web pages, the result was nearly a foregone conclusion. On the
other hand, it was a CBC production, so top in-studio contestant won a
modestly useful travel voucher, and the team prize was (I'm not making
this up) our names engraved on a not-very-interesting trophy.
