I listen to Kraftwerks Live Album (miniumum/Maximum) The Grid (Evolver) Fields of the Nephilim - either on the Turbo or out cycling - i find listen to Kraftwerks Tour de France song helps me pedal up a steep hill

Why waste time with music on a ride? Why not really get down to business and take video games with you? There's a prototype set of glasses or two in my building which project computer images as heads up displays, so those could be used to play Grand Theft Auto while riding. That would save people from getting bored from that whole scenery and pedaling thing. Couple those with some ear buds, and you'd be rockin' to Grand Theft Auto and freed from cycling boredom. Better yet, there's another lab in our building that has some advanced virtual reality headsets, so those would allow a total escape from the reality of cycling....uhm....while cycling.
I, on the other hand, am just a simple country bumpkin who figures, if I can't pedal down the road or up a hill without having to have music to entertain or motivate me, why get off the damned couch? Why I even like the technically retarded things like the sound of the wind, the sound of my tires on the road and my breathing, the scenery, the sound of peace when away from the careening hoards. I guess I'm really missing out on some things.

Occasionally a bird would punctuate that stillness, or we'd hear some animule or snake moving in the scrub brush. That, coupled with a view that extended farther than seemed possible....and watchin' the raptors circling lazily below. I've had similar days climbing in the Rockies. Peace and natural tranquility are things to be valued and sought out.....at least for me anyway. I find that especially in those conditions, bigger physical efforts become easier and don't seem that big at all. Gettin' to some of those places with a bike is one of the things that make bikes great....that and the hope that one day I'll come upon Natalie Portman, Mila Jovavich, and Lauren Graham all nekid and having their sapphic wiles satisfied by Lindsey Lohah, off the side of the road........in the bush, as it were......
