Menchov popped by Kohl, Piti and Sastre. Wait, Piti also has been dropped. It is just Kohl and Sastre.

Menchov, Saster, Kohl and Piti have a nice lead over Evans. I don't know the time splits though.

...yea, I wanted Pate to win....he did look pretty fresh crossing the line. I think he pussed the win.

F. Schleck takes the yellow jersey. Kohl behind by 7 sec, Evans at 8 sec, Menchov at 38 sec, Vande Velde at 39 sec, Sastre at 49 sec.

Mate weren't you watching? He was gapped and hung onto the front pair... 15 yards behind for 2-3 miles. Gutsy. No bum-sucking there.

No wonder you Americans struggle to win (clean). You think sucking wheel is bad cycling strategy...

HAAHHAAHHHAAAAA!!!!!!

Yep. All the battles take place in uphill finishes unless something unexpected happens. CSC is going to be happy after doing so much work.

So, Evans will not have a stuffed lion to smooch today. Maybe he will be miserable.

I think this is good for Evans. Let CSC defend yellow, and keep Silence fresher. Evans just has to stay close until the TT.

Funny,

nobody made a comment about the bloody job Andy made. I guess it was thanks to him, that Cadel exploded on a "only" 1st cat mountain.

Weather played a big part. It was cold. Shleck, Menchov & down sydrome Kohl will have to attack again Tuesday. Be interesting to see what F-Shleck does in yellow. He has to attack as Evans if the best follower in the game. I'm not sure they can get the time on Evans they want.

Menchov was a legend today.

Interesting stage, a few thoughts I would like to share (whether you guys care about my thoughts or not ).

1. Evans loses the jersey today. And will do nothing about it until the TT. That is his way, after all.
2. I have increasing doubts about our Garmin friends. Pate, a rouleur until this Tour, hanging in there. Let us not even talk about Vandevelde. Oh well, we shall see how good their medical programme is.
3. I heard on RAI that Cunego was being flagged down for another anti-doping control. I think they have made him pee on each and every stage of the tour so far. Good. I wonder whether they regularly test the Garmin boys?
4. Bad luck for Pereiro. Hope he is able to make it back next year.
5. Cunego needs to come to the realisation that he is no longer a grand tour man. He can still have a great career winning tough classics. He should face reality.

In any event, an interesting stage and one of the most interesting Tours in living memory.

And the crowds were impressive.
