Nottingham.

Did a lot of road biking in my youth, including a year in the south-west of France. Hated mountain bikes as I saw them being ridden on pavements in towns - 4 by 4 syndrome.

Have since enjoyed off-road mountain biking and do more of that these days due to poor road conditions and traffic.

Hi,

I'm from Romford (East London/Essex) and I'm an admin officer in London. I enjoy planning routes and discovering the area around me but I've been out of the saddle for a couple of years while my attention's shifted to passing my driving test. Now I'd like to get back to two-wheel transport and do more exploring during the summer.

My bike is a 1998 Ridgeback Mountain Sport - good for cross-country and also pretty nifty in suburbia too. A good all-rounder

I am from Hereford and ride a Pashely bicycle with a basket on front in connection with my job as a city postman. Out of work I ride a Ridgeback Velocity - number three since starting cycling in 2000. The first, a steel frame, was driven over by a lady reversing over it; the second, an aluminium frame, failed with a fracture of the down tube and Ridgeback have just sent a third bike as a replacement - under their frame life time guarantee.

Thumbs up Re: Where do you live and what do you do?

Hi everyone, I'm Tony from Bilsthorpe in Nottinghamshire (used to live in Southend-on-Sea). I'm a 33 year old train driver.

I'm just taking up cycling properly for the first time. It's something I've always liked but never got serious about. Looking to join a club in the very near future and meet some new people after moving to a new area. Then when I get fit again I will take part in some road events, whether that will be time-trialling or racing I don't know yet. Anything to satisfy my competitive nature .

Currently training on an old bike hooked up to an i-magic in my garage while I take the time to choose a decent new bike that won't break the bank. Any recommendations?

Cycled from Granada to Seville over the Sierra Nevada mountains in 2001. It was a 4 day thing in aid of a children's cancer charity and totally enjoyed it.
