I just broke my 2nd road frame in 4 years... yesterday. A Specialized S-Works M4 Road. It broke at the joint of the chainstay and seatstay where the rear casette is. I never actually heard it crack, and was riding rather slow at the time. But, I heard my rear wheel rubbing against the frame which sounded as if the brakes had been misaligned. My previous frame was a Cannondale, CAAD3 or 4.
I'm starting to look into titanium frames (is this my best bet?) and also custom sizes (Seven, Serotta, etc).
I am 6' 5 1/2" (~2 m) and 225 lbs. (102 kg). I'm sure there's a lot of us "big folk" who wish they could find a mass produced bike that was just right. And that would last. Or, perhaps its just me. Has anyone had other craftsmanship problems with any of their frames or components? I also have a set of Kysrium SSC wheels, but they've held up just great. I was initally worried about them, because they are some of the lightest available.
