I have a trek 5200. i already have good pedals, jacket, shoes, jerseys, shorts, HRM, a few tools, and other misc. necessary bike items. semi-decent specialized helmet.

i have sold a bunch of retro jerseys and made some extra cash for my biking "needs" i already bought a new jacket and 2 new jerseys.

what would you buy for your bike **** collection if you had an extra bill?

I would purchase extra/backup things like tubes, tires, cleats, grips, gloves, chain, lube, etc. You know, stuff that has a shorter lifespan that you know you will have to eventually replace anyway.

True, true.

How about... a Mavic Wintech computer? Ok, cyclocomputers aren't sexy in general, but the Mavic comes close -- it's sleek, perched on your stem like a little Stealth fighter, and it's got that excellently brilliant wireless transmitter imbedded in the included QR-skewer. And it's just under $100.

ORRRrrrr... a Fizik Arione in one of their limited edition custom colors (if you find the silver and yellow Ofoto one, let me know!).

the mavic computer is really awesome, although you can't use it on a stationary trainer.

Do you have a decent pair of sunglasses? They can be a lifesaver on wet/obnoxiously sunny rides.

Well, I don't have a "bike **** collection" but I would invest in books about training, nutrition, technique, maintenance, etc.

Knowledge is priceless so you really get a lot for your money. :)

Downpayment on a really awesome long, faraway ride....

Sorry, that's the old "Be Prepared" Boy Scout coming out in me. Nothing's worse than missing out on a full ride because of not having a replacement cleat or chain link!!

grrr....i'm kinda ****** right now. i hurt my miniscus (sp?) about a month ago in a 300 miles charity ride. i thought it was doing better but i was golfing today and twisted my leg. severe pain again. sigh....i'll likely be getting a mri shortly and i'm hoping they won't have to scope it. i have a race in november. the iceman cometh race in upper lower michigan. it would suck to miss it after paying the fee and putting in some miles this summer to help me place better.

maybe i should just save it for a set of aero bars or something.

A. Better helmet, preferably last year's top of the line model. Make sure it fits perfectly. Perfectly fitting high end helmets are from god.

B. Good tires. People talk about how much wheelsets matter, tires can matter almost as much. Of course, which is good is another question.
