This race is the final one in the 5 race series this year.
About 5K. Cool weather. It rained the night before.
This race was held at the Buckwallow Cycling Centre.
A MTB place.

A nice rustic looking place. An open fire was going when we arrived
providing some country atmosphere. I was running with a buddy
and my daughter this time.

The start was right on time. My buddy ran a bit with us until
I suggested he take-off. This was to be a father-daughter
run for me, so time wasn't important.

The first K went by in under 6 minutes. I knew that was
way too fast for my non-runner daughter but she
said she was OK. 2K went by at the same pace.
I could see she was beginning to fade.

Well, up some small hills and some difficult downs
and she needed to walk. So, we walked/ran the rest
of the way.

At the last turn onto the 100 foot finish stretch, she
apparently forgot about our agreement to run
together and began to sprint! I worked hard
and caught her just at the finish line.

My buddy was there waiting. He'd finished 10
minutes earlier and was one of the crowd
cheering slower runners in.

Some food, some prizes and my trail running season
is over. Next year I expect to train more and will be
trying some longer trails. Like 15 and 20 K. There are
a few in the Toronto area.

The homey friendly atmosphere of these races
is what attracts me. Real family affairs.
