Stress fracture question

I have been diagnosed with a tibial stress fracture about 8 weeks ago.
I am recreational soccer player and an occasional runner, and I believe
I injured myself by stupidly ignoring the warning signs (shin splints)
and continued to run and play soccer. I have not run a step in the last
8 weeks and I plan to wait till week 10 before resuming any sort of
running. Anyway, the question I have is can I play soccer once I start
running? If I am able to run without pain does it mean that I can start
playing soccer? I really hate this injury and don't want to get
fractured again..I will really appreciate any suggestions you might
have.
