Running in Venice, Italy?

I'm going to be in Venice for a few days next month, and would like to
run maybe 2-3 miles a day. After DAGS, it looks like running was
"outlawed" there at some point. Does anyone know if it's allowed now?
And, with the cobblestones and whatnot, is it a good idea, or...?

It depends on how much free time you have.
Take the water taxi to the main beach called "Lido"
and you can do laps along that. Its about 3 km long.

I'd bring some lightweight wind-pants and jacket
along with a waist-pack. This serves the dual role
of modesty on public transport and temperature
control if there is a chill wind. March is late winter with
temps falling to freezing at night. Venice is pretty far north
compared to the US.

There are more open places to run on the mainland.
Many budget travelers find rooms around train station,
which are a third the price of oldtown Venice
and commute to the sightseeing.
