Looking to go out this afternoon and buy a new bike. Have been using my Raleigh Sprite to commute to work (8km each way) in downtown Toronto almost daily for about 3 years now, and the bike needs some work. Thinking I might just as well upgrade to a new bike. Have done some research, and narrowed it down to a couple models/brands. Looking for opinions from others.

I've been looking at:

Trek 7000 (or 7100), Specialized Expedition (or Crossroads), or Giant Cypress DX.

Any opinions welcome.

ps. my budget is kind of restricted due to 1) money!!!! and 2) fact that I have to lock my bike up at work outside, and don't really want to encourage theft by having a $2000 bike glinting in the sun.

Brand doesn't matter - only the fit. I prefer Trek's over the others, but that's just me. All 3 have a decent rep last time I checked - not to sure on the specific models you chose.

Agree brand doesn't matter; fit is more important. Buy the one that feels best to you.

If they all feel about the same, another key decision point is the dealer. A good dealer that sets up the bike right then provides service after the sale is worth alot.
