41 year old male. High blood pressure. Quit smoking @ 38 (after nearly
20 years). Weight shot up to 255 lbs (6'3"). Last year I bought a set of
weights and a bench at Sears. Just some 100 lbs Weider black iron. In
all honesty I struggled to get it to my car and into my house.
I started with the bar and a pair of 10 lbs (45 lbs) for my bench
presses. It was a struggle to do 5 sets of 10 reps. A year later I'll do
5 sets of 10 reps @ 110 lbs, 1 set of 10 reps @ 160 lbs, and 5 sets of
10 @ 110 lbs.
Would you call that good progress?
I'm down to 210 lbs from 255 in 12 months too. I do 30 minutes on my
treadmill every other day 5 minutes @ 4 mph flat, 10 minutes @ 6 mph
flat, 10 minutes @ 6 mph 3% incline and 5 minutes @ 4mph flat.
My doctor says I have added at least 5 years to my life this past year.
