Have some areas of light scratches on my toptube clearcoat, mainly from
clothing rub. These are light surface scratches that do not go into the
paint. Any way to remove or mitigate these without making matters worse?
Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Howdy Ken, Probably the cheapest way out, would be to go either to
Wally World, Pep Boys, Checkers, or Auto-Zone, and buy yourself a Bottle
of Meguairs Deep Crystal #1 Clear Coat Body Scrub/Cleaner, and a Bottle
of Meguiars Deep Crystal #2 Polish. (Then apply any wax you like after
to protect-seal the finish)

They come in Red Colored Pint Bottles, and are inexpensive to buy. It's
best to apply/rub these in a perpendicular fashion to the paint damage,
in effect "leveling-filling" the Scratches-Damage. Use #1 first, and
apply with a medium pressure, and remove, This #1 step can be repeated
a few times until desired results are achieved. Then move on, and use #2
to complete the process, and do the whole frame.

This should help, and will also bring back the high luster-gloss to the
finish. Mark
