Enemas, proper enemas for colitis can and should be very useful for colitis.
Incorrect use of enemas can actually cause colon problems, including colitis
and IBS. It is very important to do them correctly, particularily with IBS or
colitis, please see the artcle listed in the next two lines before considering
this. It is different than IBS which most people confuse with colitis, and
good enemas are essiential. Most often colitis is part of an immune disorder,
not an irritation disorder as is IBS. I have an in depth article on this free
on line,
http://www.lifeknox.com/colitis.html, the article, despite the link title it
totally about IBS not colitis.

Immune disorders, over active in this case, are very well treated medically by
immune suppresants, such as adrenelin like drugs. These suppress the immune
response, a local chemical such as this that is not well absorbed in the colon
might just stop the reaction locally thus easing the colitis greatly. Immune
suppressants have the down side that they stop the body's immunity and open the
way for infection or other immune suppressed disorders, such as cancer.

My approach with patients is to change thier diet, to one that normalizes the
immune response generally and is closer to the way we were designed to live in
nature, specifically the living foods diet (a strict vegan diet of only living,
non cooked foods eaten while still living) and the use of some enemas to clear
out the bowel and system, some fasting, and chlorophyll enemas (chlorophyll is
a cure all, injected and held in the bowel rather than expelled it is very
healing. It is healing everywhere for that matter. I sniff it for sinus
problems, used it in my eyes post surgically to promote healing, etc. It is
very very non toxic and gentle, it just promotes detoxification and healing)
This too is a temporary fix that works for a while, while the real cause, diet
and lifestyle are changed.

I think this approach, will work better for long term relief. Doing immune
suppressants via enema, may work in the short run, in the long run I would
expect that the colitis would return when the suppressant theray is
discontinued unless the diet and lifestyle or other underlying causes are
addressed.
