glucosamine and diabetes

i recall someone saying that glucosamine can contribute to diabetes
through a metabolic pathway. searching through google has been
frustrating. it is important, i'm sure, for other people anyway so
here i am asking for a re-take.

what's the mechanism?

Hexosamine pathway. Don't worry about it. Preliminary studies show
that a gram and a half per day won't substantially increase insulin
resistance:
