OK, so it's a bit of hyperbole...

The scoop:

I have a pair of MTB shorts that are very comfortable and quite nice, but had a downside. The Nema
Crown Jewel shorts are the best I've ever worn, and would pay full retail for them again, EXCEPT...

The waistband and it's tightening system are not up to par. So let me draw you a picture:

The waistband (and shorts) head south over time, and the folks trailing me do not know whether they
are following a barney or a plumber. But that isn't the worst part. The worst part is that then the
padding and chamois are not in the place that they should be, and this can lead to discomfort over a
long ride.

The solution:

Add a belt. Uhhh, except there aren't any belt loops. S'OK, I know this avid MTBer who sews stuff.
She whipped out the ol' Singer (Husqvarna, etc.) and slapped some loops on the shorts, and the new
"retention system" works like a charm. Now the people passing me can "crack" up over my technique,
instead of my ASSets.

Thanks, Penny - job well done, and your check's in the mail. (No, really.)

P.S. The un-looped, un-belted Nema shorts would work well for anyone whose hips are wider than
their waist, but folks with a bit of a spare tire need added retention. Trust me.

I know exactly what you mean... I went out and bought a pair of suspenders which I wear under my jersey... Not very glamourous but it does the trick. A belt definetley sounds like a good plan.
