My previous thread referred to the new bike I'm having built up by my LBS.

It just happens to be a Guerciotti Twister.

I did a search through the forums and found no reference to these bikes at all.

Even google came up with zippo review oriented material. (Most stuff was late 80's early 90's, when they seemed to be really popular)

They've only been lightly exposed to the Australian Market, therefore relatively unheard of.

Then I took this baby for a spin and was all smiles

:D :D :D

Was on the verge of buying a Fondriest Max Carb (Dedacciai 7003, Deda Carbon Seat stays, Mizuno Fork (alloy steerer), w/ Zondas & Centaur

when the opposition shop called me.

The Bike's a Guerciotti Twister (Dedacciai Scandium 61.10 KET, Deda Black Tail 2 S/Stays, Deda MONOBOX C/Stays, Deda Black Blades Fork (Carbon Steerer). w/Zondas & CHORUS !

For the same price !

Decision was a no-brainer, especially after the ride....... except for Guerciottis being unkown to me.

The order is in (and they're generating alot of interest), and I can't wait....... but in the meantime... DOES ANYONE ELSE RIDE 'EM ??

Just hoping the reason for not seeing any is that they're not seen as **** !! :p

Guerciotti Twister reviewed in Nov-Dec 03 issue of Bicycling Australia.

I brough a Guerciotti bike about 16 yrs ago ( no idea what model) and was very impressed. Like you said, you don't see many of them around, just another small Italian bike builder making great bikes.

Hi there.

The Twister reviewed in Bicycling Australia is the actual bike I test rode the day before it got sent to be reviewed. I got in touch with Pat Delahunty just after he finished his test and got his opinions (which were all good) before the issue was released. This eased my mind, as I'd already ordered one. My initial test said YES, but due to the unknowns, I was still a bit nervous about my decision, so his response (and the review) was very welcome.

I ordered a Twister, but due to a mix up in the order, I got a top-o-the-range Eureka (dedacciai U2). BONUS !!

See the forum in the Bike cafe :

I'm stoked with it, and would recommend one to anyone !

I met a Columbian guy riding early this morning on an old Peugeot early 80's model PX he bought new, which he raced back in the day, original tubbies and all. The thing was beaten to all hell and still a beaut.

Guerciotti made some pretty awesome stuff back in the day. I couldn't afford their frames but my first job as a dishwasher at the age of 15 was undertaken to buy a pair of their racing shoes w/cleats. Quality was very high, they lasted a long time and took some serious abuse. I'm sure some of that rubbed off on the bikes of the period.

95% of the early Guerc's looked liked this...the dark blue with yellow logo decals. A very few red one were seen in my area.

Later on...95% of the next gen Guerc's looked like this. Dark Blue Fade-To-White with yellow logo decals. A very few red ones were seen in my area.

They were a good, solid day-racer that had fast enough handling to do well in the local crits. AFAIK, they never suffered the sometimes crappy quality that affected some of the more popular (and expensive) Italian labels. I have not seen anyone on a modern (read: carbon) Guerc yet in my AO.

I've ridden the same mid range Guerciotti for the last 3 years, it was put together with a miss match of what ever components I had;

dura-ace shifters, brakes, cranks etc.. ulterga rear derailleur, campag front derailleur, deda stem, speedplay pedals, plastic cinelli seat post and bottle cages.

All up it cost me about $80, I had to by a set of tyers, tubes and saddle bag, the seat was donated from my old giant /img/vbsmilies/smilies/wink.gif
