Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has ridden or has views on the latest Trek 1400 (the latest model with the 10 spd 105s)?

Thanks

I'm curious.. 1400? or 1500? I couldn't find a 1400 on their website..?

I think it is not avail in the US. It is the Australian Trek site: www.tba.com.au
Welp, i have the Trek 1500 (2005) from usa. Honestly from the few minutes that i took to look at the aus website, the 1400 looks exactly like the 1500 i got... (both 9 speed) Forgive me if i'm overlooking something obvious between those two models... I'd be glad to answer any questions about the 1500...

I recently (Sep 2005) bought a Trek 1200 (63cm). It's only a 9 speed, so who knows if I've ended up with an old model.

I have no real way to compare it to anything else since I rode an MTB & hybrid previously, however I find it fairly pleasant to ride - light and I can keep up with the rest of the group easily.

I did swap out the default clipless pedals for 105s on the recommendation of the LBS, but everything else is standard.

Only problem I've had so far is a back rim with minor impact damage, but that's probably my fault (I'm 100kg (196cm - hence the 63cm frame) and have hit a few potholes in a unexpected manner). I'm still riding the rim - it's nowhere near damaged enough to be replaced.

In Norway they sell both the 1400 and 1500. The only difference is that 1400 has 105 and 1500 has ultegra.

Yes I think that is the same in Australia - the 1400 has the 105 / 1500 has Ultegra. They seem like a great frame with standard gear except they have the Bontreger wheels rather that the Shimano 500 or 550s.
