-when sitting at a desk for example I will feel a "pulsing" and or
"throbbing" it's random...within my knee. nothing surrounding the
patella, and I sense it's my MCL & medial meniscus. which one is more
likely to pulse/throb? any one more than another? added info, i can do
a complete knee bend w/no pain. to my knowledge the medial meniscus
contain very little blood...and hence i am more thinking the ligament
is the more likely suspect of the two.
-Friday I went to my gym and used the abductor & adductor machines. I
had to work my legs to keep them "race ready" and this was the only
thing I could do that did not involve bending of the knee at all in
anyway. I did this again this Saturday morning and having had not run
in 5 I looked at the treadmills and simply wanted to move again like a
runner...so I got on one just for a "look-and-see"....not a workout.
-I cranked the machine to the max, level 10, 6 min/mi. pace, kept it
flat. I ran 1 mile and no more, wore my Cho-Pat Double ITB brace. it
felt GREAT. smooth...both toe/ball striking and midsole striking. So
here's what I am thinking, I don't believe I have a tear of any of the
mensci because I can run 100% pain free for at least 1 mile w/those
settings/conditions. Valid? And this pulsing / throbbing is a positive
sign of recovery? that's what's got me concerned...the throbbing
sorness on the inside of the knee...right in that MCL & medial
meniscus.
i'm hoping some of you have had this and simply not ran for several
days and had it subside....as opposed to thinking i'm a "no go" for
certain for this nyc marathon in a week. that treadmill experience
has me hopeful...but it was only 6 min of running and on a t-mill...not
3 hours of road....
thanks for your 2 cents. in the back of my mind i'm thinking if just
3-4 more days off doesn't resolve the throbbing & pulsing in that
region and i actually have to go to a sports doc for x-rays...well that
in itself is a case for being a "no go" to race 26.2 in a week.
