Help: Info on Elvish bicycle

Thread Starter
Hi,
I inherited from a friend a 10 speed racing bicycle called ELVISH (No, it is
NOT Elvi): it is made in France (so the sticker said). The frame and fork
are built with TI Reynolds 531 tubing. It is still in very good condition
and light enough to my liking. (may be it is 80 vintage ?)
I am tempting to upgrade (especially the brake lever and shifter) but i do
NOT know if it is worth it. (unfortunately my friend seems to purchase this
from somekind of 'garage sale' so he has no clue either).

If you have any info wrt to this ELVISH bicycle, I will appreciate any help.
From Sheldon Brown's website, i was directed to a place in Colorado. But the
guy in Colorado has no clue either when I emailed him for info.

desperately looking info for Elvish ...
thanks

A riding buddy has one that he used as a touring bike in the 70's that
sounds similar: 5 speed, 531 tubing, Stronglight crank and I think Simplex
dérailleurs. He bought it in Montréal new back in the day. Probably easily
upgraded, but I am not sure what kind of threading you will find. If it is
French you will find it a challenge, I think. His Elvish is also in nice
shape considering the km's he put on it. It now hangs from his wall as
decoration mainly, since he has other bikes.
Good luck,
Blake
