Am I the only one who doesn't like the way manufacturers brackets attach the U-Lock to their bike?(Locks add extra weight, often times don't fit , or get in the way of water bottles) Do riders wish there was another way to carry Those bulky U-Locks while riding between destinations? Yes or No?

I just put my lock in the backpack. I don't really see any problem with the way locks are afixed to bikes... And since you don't need to carry a lock when you race, why worry about the weight? Heck, the more weight the better when you're just cruising around: Better training.

See how a negative can be turned into a positive?

I get the same when people see me with empty panniers on my bike.

My theory is, if I can ride fast with the extra weight of the bags and rack, when I take them off, I'll fly :)

this doesn't exactly answer your question, but I have one of those massive, thick chains with a big lock. It fits in a tennis ball container, wich then goes in one of my water bottle cages. if I don't need a lock, it comes off in fractions of a second, and if I need a lock, it goes on just as fast and holds everything in place.

ya...........me to

I carry it slipped through the my hip bag (containing wallet, a couple bucks, tube, CO2, phone. Just slipped through the strap and rests gun slinger style. Can be gotten too very quickly if you need to show a motorist that you are as serious as cancer. Typical lock mounts are terribly designed as the lock can fall out at the slightest bump.
