Euan and I have been talking about bike names. Given that my GT Timberline has earnt itself the name "The Beast" I am thinking the new bike will be Beauty.

Do your bikes have names?

My racing bike, a silver Felt F50, is my Silver Bullet.
My commuter, a yellow and black Learsport 8000, is my Dozer.
My MTB doesn't have a name. Perhaps it should be called, "The only good
thing about the way I ride offroad."

I have honestly never thought of giving my bikes names. Probably cos its a sooky baby thing to do and anyone that does it is a sooky baby juvey wah wah imby.

But, if I had to name them, I guess I'd call my roadie "*****", cos I ride it wherever & whenever I damn-well want to :D :D , and I'd call my beater bike "stunt ho'", cos I only take it to places where I wont take my *****.:D :D

Monsterman (who just read what he had actually typed, but decided "fuggit" and clicked submit reply anyway:D ). Bahah. ??

I name my bikes after real people:
Sir John Forrest - my touring bike(s)
Sir Hubert Opperman - my fixed wheel SS road bike
Burke & Wills - my current commuting bike

My older roady, the Trek 1400 is "madam lash", the new one is "******

You just missed hard rubbish day here, so I don't have a "home" for
that moleburn scar. There might be a dumpster somewhere though?

Do your bikes have names?

Names should just evolve/emerge :)

My MTB commuter was initially called 'the mongrel' due to its mixed lineages of road and mtb components, but was then dubbed 'angry ram' (due to its fugly cable routing) but FD which has kind of stuck.

The SS hard rubbish bike was initially called 'beater', but that's evolved into 'beaker' in honour of the Muppets, as that poor bike looks like it's suffered as much poor treatment as he did...

And the Marin duallie in the shed is simply known as "the good bike"...

Still thinking of names for the upcoming fixie...

Speaking of spare frames - I still have a 57cmish graecross fixie candidate frame wanting a home... Anybody?

When I first got my bike a couple of years ago, I decided it should be called 'The Scat' - being a Scattante. I don't use the name, really - I only have two bikes - my mountainbike and my roadie.

I normally don't call my bike any particular name....... Well, except maybe "*******" when it "flats" on a mountain road with no shoulder to speak of. Then again, I'm not sure if I'm talking to the bike or to the thorn that punctured the tire(tyre) which eventually punctures the tube (toob).:D

Nah not really - there's the Mountain Bike, the Moulton, the Other
Bike, the Old Grey Bike and then there's the Yellow Peril. The last one
doesn't get ridden much - it's the WORST handling bike I have ever
ridden. Cornering is interesting[1] and cornering at speed, well it's
exciting...:)

[1]"Boring" is good. Minimum possibility of carnage.

"Interesting" is not so good. Carnage is probable if you make the
slightest error.

"Exciting" is most certainly NOT GOOD. Carnage happens no matter what.

Do your bikes have names?

The MTB is "Deadly Treadly" or just "Deadly", named after the kids watched me leave the driving position over the top of the handelbars one day.

The roadie is the "Black Beast".

The old tourer is "Old Bike".

The SS project is "the SS project" until it is built, then it will get a name once its personality comes through.

Ten..!!! yes, well i can see the need for ALL of them..

Mon - Fri bikes ,,theres five gone. one for each day depending on the mood.

The "my knob is bigger than yours bike".AKA The Sat bike, or, the racing bike

The sunday bike..AKA "MKIBTY bike from two years ago as thats probably how long you have waited until you bought a new shinier faster one.

The bday bike - the sentimental favorite that gathers dust but you feel sorry for it and roll it out once a year.

The hard rubbish bike that get pulled apart and put back together for no other reason than you are a man and you can.

The unridden commuter - that you will use for various mugshots for up and coming BV photos.

There... ten... gosh, i dont know how i manage with just one.
