I've just had a great weekend and it's all thanks to uk.rec.cycling.

Allow me to explain. Just over a year ago, I was knocked off my bike by a car and in an effort to
find out where to get advice I came across urc. In that year of reading messages in urc I was
seduced by the dark side. With the money I received in the insurance claim (plus a bit more) I
purchased a Windcheetah Club Sport.

It was put together on Friday evening and most of the weekend was spent on it. It is amazing, I can
hardly keep off it. :)

An other reason to thank urc is for the advice given over the last year about teaching kids to ride
a bike. My youngest son
(11) was reluctant to learn and has been for years. I tried to persuade him that he could do it
again this weekend and he agreed. I took the pedals off and got him to try "walking" the bike
freewheeling when he could. 10 minutes later he asked for the pedals to be added and 20 minutes
later he could do it.

What a great weekend! It's just a shame it's back to work tomorrow. :-(

Mark,

I always smile when I see kids on bikes. I wish I used my Raleigh Ace for more than skidding
competitions.

WafflyCat is the general expert on getting kids into cycling IMO. She needs to put a blog or diary
on how it's done though ..

Glad to hear you are on a bike again and loving it ...

Always remember my first bike - my BMX Team Marlboro. Loved that bike, used to go miles with my dad
(and seemingly never out of breath!!?!?) - When we get round to kids and they are old enough I think
a bike will be a good purchase
