Dear friends,

First of all, sorry for my poor english.

I bought an old road bike, and have noticed that the chain is a little loose, making it jump out of the front chain rings, in the very bad roads we have. The spring that keeps the chain stiff in the rear derilleur seams to be not ok, and I can not find a replacement for that shape.
It is a old bike with non indexed friction gear levers. The rear weel has been changed to a shimano with 8 "sprocket" cassete.

I would like to replace the rear derilleur, so please your advice on a good and not too expensive unit.

Best regards

With non-indexed shifters pretty much anything will work.

If the biggest cog in your cassette has 27 teeth or fewer, I'd get a Shimano Tiagra derailleur. If it has more than 27 teeth, I'd get a Shimano Deore. Both are in the middle price range so they are going to function smoothly and will be reliable for a long, long time.

Ok, thank you for the post.
