Hi guys, a newbie here with a question - if anyone can reply within the next few hours would make life a bit easier for me.

I am thinking about purchasing a second hand set of campy zondas off ebay for my bike, my question is
1) Will my Shimano 9-speed tiagra cassette fit on a campy wheel if the freehub on the s/hand wheels is currently campy? I know that you can buy new campy wheels to suit shimano, but can you purchase a change over freehub as a retrofit?
2) if so can someone please point me to a link/site where these can be bought from (am in Australia, but any site is fine....)
or 3) if the above doesn't make sense, what would I need to do to put a set of second hand zondas (w campy freehub) on my tiagra drivetrain

Cheers!

1. Yes. Shimano compatible freehubs for Campy wheels are available for about $80-90 (US dollars). This is your easiest and best long-term solution and cheapest, unless you happen to have a loose-cog 9s campy cassette already. If so, see number 3 below.

2. Branford bike (www.branfordbike.com) is in Montana, USA but has the part. Any high-volume campagnolo parts dealer can order the part for you.

3. For 9s shimano spacing on a campagnolo freehub, you can use a loose cog (Veloce) campagnolo cassette and space it to shimano 9s spacing with a retrofit spacer set (made by wheels manufacturing and also available from Branford bike for about $35 (US)).

I've had a set of Zondas for about two years. Very good wheelset. 30mm aero rim, but spoked a bit more mildly than K's or Rolfs, so the ride is decidedly less bone jarring.

The Zondas are my everyday wheelset. Still in true after two seasons of riding.

Very handsome wheelset, too, in the black and silver livery.

Hi John M,

thanks for your quick response! much appreciated. I think I will go ahead and bid for a second hand set on ebay, and get the compatible freehub as per your suggestion. From all that I've read they are a nice wheel-set, and look the part also.
Cheers,
Forbaz.

The 2006's are the 24/28 mm versions. I dont know if thats what the OP is talking about or not. That said, I have the 2006 Zondas, have beat the immortal dog snot out of them for the past 2 months, not one problem. Its Campy, so it includes full instructions to clean, disassemble, reassemble etc.

In other words, go for it.
