As much as I love the long summer days with sun setting late in the evening I loath the short
spring/fall/winter days even more. Currently the sun sets around 7:30 PM and it's getting worse
everyday plus the totally obsolete Day light saving time thing is coming making it even worse is
coming up.

As it is now riding in the woods on work days is close to impossible as it's not allowed to be in
the forrests after sunset, this is of course to protect the animals which I'm all for but I miss the
riding and soon eveing leaving work early will be enough. In fact in a couple of months I'll be
having lights on my bike in the morning comuting to work and going home from work it will be dark as
well. By then long rides in the woods will even be impossible on weekends:-(

Someone tell me why I live in this country - I mean with the world record tax levels we pay they
could at least provide more daylight!

Kind regards

Bruno, Denmark

Well, its not exactly like daylight savings time is a Danish thing. Besides, all we're doing this
month is reverting to STANDARD time, so if your country didn't observe DST, it'd already be an
hour later.

Personally, though, I wish we'd just STAY on DST, for the after-work rides.

ooh, I'm with you on that. Who needs it to be light out in the morning just to go to work. At the shortest days, it's not even light then anyway. I hate this time of year, the weather is still nice enough that you want to go riding after work but it is too dark

Heh... you should move to Arizona. We don't do no steenken' DST at all. The LAST thing you want in
the summer is more daylight. The nice riding is in the morning, so having the sun come up at 4
something is a GOOD thing. Heck, even now it's plenty light to ride at 6am (though it won't be long
before I need a light in the morning).

Bah, I think Arizona's situation sucks. It's never light here past 8 pm, and today the sun went down
before 6:15 pm. I would much rather have it be dark in the morning and light in the evening. But
then again I don't have a particularly "normal" sleep schedule.

And here I was looking forward to daylight saving. You guys in the Northern hemisphere have got to
learn to share more. Some of us down here want some decent daylight hours for a change!

The only problem with the above is that in the summer it's still really hot at 8pm, but it's usually
nice early in the morning (it's down to "only" 88 F (31 C) right now at 5:40am. It'll probably be
100F or more at sunset tonight.

Move to Germany - the daylight's the same and you only pay 54% tax...

ps - what's wrong with riding in the mornings?

Yeah, in the summer the temp hits its highest point of the day at around 4 or even 5 pm. I guess I'm
lucky that the heat doesn't seem to bother me. I often ride when its 105F or hotter, and as long as
I drink plenty of water I'm fine. The fact that the RH is in the teens is a big help. For me
mornings are for sleeping and afternoons are for riding, but I guess I'm in the minority.

Hmm, south of Germany may be worth considering. Norway is also an option, it won't solve the
daylight problem but they only pay tax 11 moths of the year and their winters are cold enough
for skiing.

Sun rises at 7 am and sets 12 hours later, tomorrow the day will some miniutes shorter.

If I get up at six, eat a little and then time my ride to enter the forrest at 7 sharp then a two
hour ride (and I don't ride less else it's only warm up) plus the ride back home, the shower, the
change of clothes, the quick snack after the ride and the comute to work means I can be at work at
10 o'clock at the very earliest. That is not an option it's a stress plan:-(

Kind regards

Bruno
