Any recommendations for music while going hard on the trainer?
.....you know the type.....repetitive hard driving beat/instrumental stuff.

Some one on this forum said trance music is good riding music and I do have some favorites that I listen to when the intensity is high and the energy is getting low on the last 20 minute L4. The song "Trip Like I Do" has the sound of a three phase motor starting up in the back ground at least ten times and it seems to keep the watts on target.(maybe its because I'm a sparky):) "Yet Another Day" and "Ozone-Planisphere" are good also and they are around ten minutes long good deal for 99 cents.

wouldn't it be totally dependent upon the person's musical preferences? For e.g. if you put techno on for *me* i'm likely to turn it off or throw the machine out!

One man's meat, is another man's poison.

I am with ric. It depends on your preference and musical tastes, basically anything upbeat however dance music/ techno music would be better if you didn't mind the sound.

Daft punk- aerodynamic? :p ;) :D Get on the aero bars and hammer away!

I would never listen to techno unless I was on the trainer or maybe on a long climb.......

I tried the stuff at a buddies home on the trainer with a good sound system and I really got "into" the L4 ride...it helped a lot. Got into a "trance like" state and
3 X 20min was not bad at all. Picked a few songs that matched my 95 cadence to the beat.

In fact my buddy said the techno I was listening to was called TRANCE MUSIC.

You can stream trance music for free at Yahoo Launchcast Radio just set up custom mood and only check Trance and choose play mostly songs I've rated. If you like a song you rate it if you don't you click never play again and next.

I have some pretty heavy stuff combined with some slower punk type music on my Ipod. I do find the heavier stuff better for cranking it out.

I have been meaning for sum time to change my songs. This time I will be dragging out the Hardcore Techno and giving it a go. I know it will fire me up.

For longer rides I prefer much more mellow music.

remember der kaiser jan website (blog)

gunther- ding ding dong song :D

makes me think of Jan Ullrich doing a TT in a nightclub ****** and chasing girls asking them to touch his ding ding dong...:p dunno how that helps.

It does keep a nice rhythm and would be good for a LT workout.

I listen to mainly drum'n'bass mix CD's on the turbo - they run at ~180bpm, so you get relentless beats that work well for 90rpm cadence.

Look out for DJ Zinc, Dillinja, Grooverider, Fabio, ShyFX to name a few....

Good stuff from a good buddy......

"Der Kaiser" Jan Ullrich says he likes to listen to these dudes while training."

Check it out...WILD stuff but I have tried it while doing L4/5 work on the trainer and it's great....but I would never listen to it otherwise :)

Rammstein is a German band that was formed in 1994. Their musical style incorporates elements of metal/hard rock, industrial metal, and electronic music. Some critics have also dubbed their sound as Tanz Metal (lit. dance metal) . Their songs are performed almost exclusively in German. They have sold over 12 million records worldwide....

According to my buddy they sing about "serious things", and their lyrics are always worth reading.

The super "guttural" barbarian sounding German language adds a lot to this stuff I think.

Crank the volume!

Might I recommend A State of Trance by Armin Van Burren. This is a weekly radio show recorded to mp3. Being a progressive trance listener for several years Armin spins some of the best quality in the scene.

If anyone is interested in downloading these sets, 2hours long, usualy 180mb, try:

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=344310&forumid=12&

also try:
Paul Van Dyk
Dj Tiesto
Cosmic Gate
Above and Beyond

Theres also a few sets mixed by The Crystal Method ;)

btw, these are all free and very legal.

GREAT MAN! Tanx

I sometimes train to death metal, especially the more intense workouts. Try and match the heart rate to the insane high speed double kick drumming, and the gutteral grunts of the singer will seem an appropriate reflection of the pain you are feeling.

A classic is "Reign in Blood" by Slayer - Possibly the fastest guitar / drums / bass / voice record ever made.....

I like this one but for L7 only

Another one I like for L4 L5 is Ready, Steady, Go by Oakenfold

Anything by Tiesto or Paul Oakenfold. IIO is good too. The best thing you could do is get XM satellite radio and then hit the system channel 82 or even BPM channel 81 you will be on fire.

I'm the same way. I don't listen to this stuff unless I need something to pump up my mood on the trainer.

Try Fat Boy Slim's "Give to Po Man a Break"

Hi

Podcast - 'Podrunner' has dance/techno music at specific BPM, usually about 1hr length.
