I feel left out by the other thread hahaha...so how fast has everyone gone on a mountain bike?

Last year I was doing a mad downhill rush on a shale single track with nasty boulders to the sides and hit 75km/h. Then my friend bailed in front of me and did a complete 360 after clipping a wheel on one of the rocks. Miraculously, I flew past him, and he was unhurt, and didn't even destroy a tire...It happened to fast I don't even know what really happened. It was intense. Fastest most exhilerating thing I've ever done. It was definitely a hell of a lot harder than 65km/h on the road. I had a flatbar too, and that thing was running mad with vibration.

I've never really opened it up on a mtn bike. I have hit 40mph going down Killington mtn on my steel GT hardtail. The frost heaves slowed you down. I'm more into pegging it on the road, where I have some faith in the surface I am going down. I can't wait for it to get warm out and I can get in better shape so I can set more downhill records.

I've never gone very fast on a MTB, but I was with a group on the bike trail through town , and some dude on a hardtail, complete with nobbies, was keeping up with us at about 23 mph for over two miles. I was very impressed with his fitness, but he had a really shitty attitude towards us, which was a shame because one is a cat-2 who also races mountain.

Not sure how fast I was going but our Tue. night group was flying down a potholed dirt road in the dark in a driving rainstorm after drinking one too many. I had only a 5w nighthawk. But it will be one of the greatest memories ever.

86km/hr on a smooth downhill in Revelstoke BC. bike was a 92 Rocky mountain Hammer, no suspension fork and of course cati-lever bikes.

Oh and I used a 61 tooth chain ring.
