I'm planning a trip from Dublin to Rome, and I was wondering if any of you would have any advice for me regarding:
1-Route
2-things I may need for 24 days of cycling
3-general tips!

At the moment my planned route for each day is as follows:

Dublin via Holyhead - Shrewsbury - Stow on the wold - Portsmouth - Lehavre - Dreux - Orleans - Auxerre - Dijon via col de la faucille- Geneve - Martangy via st.bernard pass - Aosta - Alessandria - Genoa - La Spezia - Pisa via florence - Sienna - Viterbo - Roma

Total cycling distance 2223km
Avg 133km per day
With the odd rest day!

What do you think???? Want to come along for the craic??? Any comments would be appreciated!

Thanks

133km a day is a fair distance and you have to factor in that you'll have the Alps. Have you done this sort of thing before? What bike are you riding? Planning on camping or B&Bing?

I totaly agree with blorg. If you're going to be camping it will be more weight, and with the hills means that you'll need to do around 160kms on the flats in order to keep up 133 average per day.
Besides is this a tour or race?
Do you want to see something or doing this just to get from point A to B?
Also when are you planing on doing this tour, mid summer can get prety hot in Italy.
Give yourself some more time, and smell the roses as they say :)
There is more information you might need on my page below
