Well, I've kegged and carbonated her Belgian Ale, two and a half weeks fermenting and it only came down to 1.016 from 1.060 but the T58 yeast I'd never used before when ballistic and was pretty much done in the first 24 hours and blew up 6*C into the high 20s, was very fruity and winish early but seems to have settled down and gotten spicier and subtler after a long lazy couple of weeks sitting with the odd late swirl to finally convince it to get under 1.020.
I bartered today's one hour of work for her birthday dinner and drinks at a decent local pub tonight. Now if I can just find a rather large cardboard box in the next half an hour I should be sweet.
Ah just spied a shoebox in the cycling stash. Perfect.
Oh and I'll drive her up to Byron Bay for the weekend to go to my brother's wedding which I'm not invited to
, and rather better, catch up with some old mates and show her the local sights for the first time (it's weird that a NSW chick of undisclosed age has never been to Byron) with some camping and mtbing in the Border Ranges NP especially. Maybe I'll bake her a cake in the Trangia. That'll have to do, even if she might end up having to pay for the petrol home.
