I never understood the hatred for Green Vadge. Gerrans has been on the verge of getting a win in a while - and only the likes of Valverde stopped him from getting a couple of nice stage wins. The stage in Paris Nice that Gerrans once again just failed to take the win from the Movistar rider, Gerrans came from way back, at least 10 back, and launched a farking missile like sprint. Another meter and he would have had it...

The lads on fire - he'll probably do well in Ghent Wevelgem and the sprinters classic that Cavs won the last three times he's entered it (but alas I can't remember the name)

The Green vag annoyance comes from them generally being elitist shits. Nearly all the Aussie recruits came thru the AIS system. Gerrans may be the exception, tho I may wrong. A couple if gun riders, guys deserving of contracts, were ignored. And Neil Stephens shouldn't be allowed within 199km of anything affiliated with Cycling Australia imo

Good weekend otherwise. Those young cnuts can fly up hills. Watched their asses for 20minutes from the gatehouse then had to play solo man out the poopsie. 5mins down on Buller. %somethingth% place, maybe top 20? F'knows. Had a ripper 30km turn back into town flat out earning myself lunch from the Mrs on my wheel. VIS wins B Grade. Handicapping by true retards. wtf was I doing in A while VIS/Search2something/etc in B? I have not earned my spot in A Open in a road race, yet there I was. And yet there were a few spat before the climb, more shutting off at the base.

 

Anyhows, I'll do a race report. Hard not to make it a total slag-out. I'll keep it constructive. Maybe.

 

 

 

 

 

Yeah, he managed to sprint for fourth comfortably while looking back at Boonen blacking out and crashing, but he might still have struggled to match Gerro's sprint, had either of them really had to do one.

Maybe Iti cycling is just like most endeavours, earn your stripes before the old guard can be convinced to start handing over the reins. He's earning them. They will.

Nibali's jump on the Poggio was still impressive, even if he didn't have anything left at the end. He's earned those stripes too.

ONCE probably accounts for the first, only met him once so not sure about the second bit.  Probably not incompetent seeing as he's been DSing for a while, but that doesn't take into account the first bit.

So you weren't one of those time trialling to catch up to your bunch due to the long registration process?

 

I came down with a bug on Friday, so it was no surprise when I did a reverse break away from my grade at the base of the climb and took four minutes longer to get to the summit than in training last weekend. A friend of mine did rather well in her first State Open coming third in Woman's A-grade. Pretty bloody good for a mother of two in her mid 30's who would be fortunate to get in 5 hours of training a week.

 

I was lucky enough to have someone grab my license and tell me to go warm up while they got my number.... very, very handy.

 

The women's fields were different to last year, I was told. No VIS hitters. The opposite problem with the mens, too many hitters and not enough knowledge of riders for the grading system to work effectively. Keen to know your opinions on what pissed you off this weekend.... I've got a post ready, but it is a little to negative for my liking, and I'm not sure it is just me.... Did everyone have a few niggles with the way things were run/promoted/ended up?
