Hi, Im looking for some good tires to ride on mostly clean roads, although i do encounter glass and very sharp stones from time to time. I want a smooth rolling tire, one that is supple, yet fast. Im riding a Specialized Allez triple with the stock 700x23c mondo tires on it (cheap 60tpi wire bead) and while i havnt had any flats or any problems yet, I dont carry a pump or tubes either. I want something puncture resistant, but i dont want too harsh of a ride at the same time. Im a big guy, 220lbs, and running 110psi front, 115psi rear at the current set up.

Any info would help, id like to keep price around $30/tire, and i dont mind ordering online either. Also, would i be better stepping up to a 25c tire, some of the roads around her have really rough pavement (larger crushed stone) that causes a bit of road buzz that gets annoying after a bit. I want to stay fast, but more resistance wont hurt me either, ill get fitter faster ;)

Thanks for the help, and I love this bike and really want to be able to trust it on farther ventures. I think im going to order a frame pump and find a seat bag for those longer trips as well...

I'm about your weight and seem to encounter a fair amount of broken glass. I bought a few Panaracer Stradius Pros and Hutchinson Carbon Comps (700x23) last year on sale. I run 120 psi front and rear and have ridden flat free (knock on wood) since April '06. I like Continentals better, but I'm kinda cheap. I think the tire composition is on the soft side and they seem to wear pretty damn fast, especially the Panaracers.

I've been riding Continental Ultra Gatorskins for many years with no puncture trouble. They're durable and have decent grip on wet or dry pavement.

Specialized All-Condition Armadillo Elite 23c. I'm in your weight range (tho 105f/110r psi) and I :D love'em even on the **** roads!!

I can get last years armadilo all condition 25c for $26/tire would those tires be good? im sure they are probably about the same suppleness as the tires i have now (which are ok) but with what seems to be the best puncture protection available. ive already run through some stuff that i was SURE was going to puncture my tires, so far i think theres been some divine intervention or something haha

Armadillo and supple are opposites. I've got Armadillos on my fixed gear because - well - I already owned them and I don't carry any flat tire fixing stuff on that bike. Puncture resistant, yes. Supple, no.

Though many may cringe, I ride Performances Forte Pro Kevlar tire. They wear like iron, are comfy on the road, are lighter than many others. They are also relatively inexpensive...about $26 ...always on sale.

Try the Continental Ultra Duraskins in the 25c size,; I can't say enough good about them. About 1,500 miles and one flat (v-shaped piece of glass no tire would have stopped). Excellent control/stability, excellnt in the rain, etc....

looks like the continental ultra gatorskins are a pretty good deal for the money. 35/tire at performance.com I think that I'm going to ride the tires I have now till I start to have too many flats (i have a frame mounted pump coming this week) and then Ill shell out the dough :) might as well ride them till they arnt any good, right?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, keep them coming if you want to, Always open to new tire suggestions
