Does everyone wear cycling shoes when on trainer?

I never wear cycling shoes ever, but then I don't use clipless pedals either. I grew up and raced in the 80's with toe clips and straps and that is what I am comfortable with. Since I only ride and train for my own enjoyment these days, I don't see any reason to change after all of these years. I just wish that I could find good new platform pedals instead of having to rebuild ones that I find on eBay.

No way am I going to switch my pedals every time I get home and put my bike on the trainer. Why not wear cycling shoes? I barely wear regular shoes anyway. I have two bikes and getting back on the one that has clips and straps, I don't know how I ever made it up a hill. It feels really retarded with normal shoes on and not being hooked in. ought to use whatever you use normally.

We don't use trainers here. We pedal outside.

bike I have set up on the turbo has an old pair of Look pedals and I have a pair of shoes that I use just on there

I've got toe clips on my trainer bike. I also have an old pair of cycling shoes that I don't wear anymore when riding my 'outdoor' bike and have removed the cleats. I wear these shoes on the trainer bike simply because the sole is stiffer and I don't want to mess up my 'tennis' shoes on the toe clips.

I'm aith Alienator - I never use a trainer, I cycle outdoor unless the weather is appalling and I have no other choice but to use the trainer.
I don't wear cycling shoes on my trainer - I wear runners.

Up here in the Great White North (the Toronto part), we got our first dump of snow and freezing rain yesterday. I sure hope it melts away because it's come one to two months early.
