I am about to buy a Specialized Roubaix Comp. I am 5'10" and both bike stores that I have been to have suggested that I should get a 56" bike. The second strore said I am right between a 52 and a 54, but suggested the 54. But I just found a really good deal on used a 52".

How much of a diffierence will there be interms of comfort and fit. I have a lot of body pain issues to take into consideration, so fit is critical for me. But if a 52 can be set up for me to be just as comfortable as a 54 then I would buy the used. I don't know anything about the fitting process.

THanks

I would make sure that you get a frame which is exactly the right size for you.

That way you aren't having to over adjust anything for a frame that is too small or too big, you'll just be making minor adjustments to make the fit perfect.

I'm 5'10" and I ride a 53cm bike....

I agree. You can't just look at overall height. I'm 5'8" and just test rode a 51 and a 54. I made a few small adjustments to the 54 and just finished a 75mile ride through the hills of SoCal. Bottomline...everyone is a lil different. Pick a couple sizes and go ride the bikes after the fit.

what's your inseam? (cycling; not pant's size)
what's your sternal notch dim?
if you have long legs I'd go for the 56 if you have shorter legs go for the 54
the larger size will get the bars higher (more upright, more comfy) the smaller size will get you a shorter top tube and lower bars (more saddle to bar drop)

I AM 5' 9 3/4" and ride a 56 and a 58 (34.25" inseam); both are set up almost exactly the same. Different stems on each bike; bars are level with saddle.
