Raleigh Prestige Competition vs Cannondale R2000si CAAD 5

Both bikes fit me quite nicely, and they are identical price. They both feel pretty good to me as well. I ride a lot but this will be my first nice bike. My question is to what you all think is a better bike.

The 2003 Raleigh Prestige Comp has the Aluminum and Carbon Frame and a Carbon Fork, Carbon Easton bars, Dura Ace 8 speed drivetrain shifters cranks, and Ultegra brake calipers and Shimano Aero wheel set.

Cannondale R2000si appears to be stock but has Bontrager Select rims, and a computer.

What would be the best choice. Both are same price. Seem to be both in good condition. The Raleigh was built by a bike shop owner. Thanks for the help.

I have a 2003 Raliegh Competition and it is a good bike, but it came stock with a 9-speed Ultegra gruppo. The Prestige Comp came stock with a 9-speed DA gruppo. Why does it now have an 8-speed drivetrain on it? I would be a little leery about this, especially since 8-speed components, like cassettes, are getting harder to find(especially DA) and are usually priced rather higher than more modern components when they are found.

You didn't say what year the Cannondale was but most of the R2000s had Ultegra 9-speed drivetrains on them. And don't sell Bontrager components short. They have had their problems just like a lot of other component manufacturers, but for the most part they are good components. Granted they are a little more expensive than others and if you buy a Trek, half the bike is going to be Bontrager. Therefore, I suggest that you test ride both bikes and see which one you like best. If the Cannondale has a 9-speed drivetrain on it, I would lean more towards that bike since it will cost you less in the long run when you start replacing worn parts. But don't forget that the biggest factor in buying or rejecting a bike is fit. If the bike does not fit you, you will never enjoy riding it.
