Raleigh Prestige Competition vs Cannondale R2000si CAAD 5

I have a 2003 Raliegh Competition and it is a good bike, but it came stock with a 9-speed Ultegra gruppo. The Prestige Comp came stock with a 9-speed DA gruppo. Why does it now have an 8-speed drivetrain on it? I would be a little leery about this, especially since 8-speed components, like cassettes, are getting harder to find(especially DA) and are usually priced rather higher than more modern components when they are found.

You didn't say what year the Cannondale was but most of the R2000s had Ultegra 9-speed drivetrains on them. And don't sell Bontrager components short. They have had their problems just like a lot of other component manufacturers, but for the most part they are good components. Granted they are a little more expensive than others and if you buy a Trek, half the bike is going to be Bontrager. Therefore, I suggest that you test ride both bikes and see which one you like best. If the Cannondale has a 9-speed drivetrain on it, I would lean more towards that bike since it will cost you less in the long run when you start replacing worn parts. But don't forget that the biggest factor in buying or rejecting a bike is fit. If the bike does not fit you, you will never enjoy riding it.
