Felt F85 or Giant TCR Alliance 2?

I'm looking at buying either the 2008 Felt F85 (on special for AU$1200 reduced from $1700) or the 2008 Giant TCR Alliance 2 (on special for AU$1495 reduced from $1895).

Specs are as follows...

Both are complete Shimano 105, though the Felt F85 runs an Ultegra rear derailleur. From what I can tell, the frame on the Giant is a carbon/aluminum alloy, whereas the Felt is all aluminium. Both bikes have the usual carbon seatposts, forks, etc.

I don't know enough about bicycles to tell the difference between the other parts of each bike. I was wondering whether any of you have opinions on which is the better bike and by how much.

I would give each a good test ride to determine which is best for you. The giant has a more compact frame geometry which may or may not suit your needs. I would also get the bike correctly setup. A test ride is your best option.

You can always upgrade the groupset later on if you wish.
