after 10 weeks (thru Dec. 31st) lost 9+kg/20lbs, must have lost some muscle mass in there as well but hoping to gain that back since I overshot my target of 5kg... So how to get back my cycling muscles? I have been cycling throughout the 10 weeks, more long distance, less intervals/power/sprints but seems my quads are smaller. Still feel pretty strong on the bike, although the last week of the diet I had bonked (no power) on the way home from 2hr out LSD ride. Took several extra minutes (20?) to get home and was starving and weak upon arrival, doh! So it seemed like a good indicator that I was underfed or weakening...
I was doing deep knee bends (heard that one this century?) in an effort to keep my quads strong and running up 13 flights of stairs to introduce some off season weight bearing/impact activity throughout my 10 week experiment. Hate to abandon those but maybe its time to work the muscles on the bike... ?
whattya think? I am very excited to start climbing again at my new weight... I will have to update ya'll to see how my speeds/times compare to last summer...
