Incantations while cycling

Thread Starter
Hi,

I am new to the forum and to cycling. I was cycling today and was repeating the phrase "I am a lean, mean, running machine" in my head over and over again. I found it very helpful.

What phrases do you use while cycling? I am looking for a few suggestions that I can use during my run.

Thanks!

Re: Incantations while cycling

I chant, over and over: The room smelled like a gust of wind from Satan's anus.

Re: Incantations while cycling

It is common for a song to get stuck in my head while cycling, but I never tell myself that I'm a "running machine" when I'm trying to do something different. That just confuses me.

Re: Incantations while cycling

I think maybe that the proper term is mantra rather than incantation, although sometimes I think that it would take some wizardry to find more time for me to ride. I am more like Frenchyge, I tend to get a song stuck in my mind when I ride solo. If I am with a group, we tend to talk to each other instead of chanting to ourselves.

Re: Incantations while cycling

Depending on the circumstances, it's either "Damn the wind" or "Damn this hill".

Re: Incantations while cycling

I keep yelling Mothersmurfer (if I have the breath to yell it), till I get to the top of the climb. And then shout back at the climb, Who's your daddy now .

Re: Incantations while cycling

"Mine's a pint of Guinness, Johnny"

the thought of ordering a nice pint after a tough spin, that's what keeps me going!

Om mani padme hum. And I'm encouraged to keep spinning the prayer wheels.

To prevent me from getting dropped on climbs "how to fight loneliness"
To grovel home "Peel my skin back just for fun, it makes the miles go one by one"

Re: Incantations while cycling

I often pray...especially when pushing a strong headwind. Jesus give me strength!

Re: Incantations while cycling

I usually get a song.

Don't usually have much control - one just pops into my head.

This one's a frequent visitor.

Cool song.
