Basics and necessities for cycling the West Coast of America

Hi,

I am new to this forum and was hoping to get some information from some of you guys.

I am planning to cycle the west coast of America in order to raise awareness about the effects that the cocaine industry has on Bolivia

I am pretty fit and i work out regularly, but i am not an experienced cyclist particularly with the distance i am planning to cover. I was hoping that some of you may be able to tell me a little bit about the equipment i would need and the training i would need to do. I am planning to do the cycle in August. I am not sure how long this will take me and i am hoping that maybe some of you could estimate. I have a month free in which to do it.

Thanks a lot for your time

Neil.

Start by getting a detailed road-plan of your chosen area. Then figure out how much riding you can do without panniers and you will have a good idea of how much harder would it be once you are loaded.

If you are not a cyclist i think 80 to 100 km daily is enough on flat pave roads.

Also think about mechanical supplies (spare tubes, spare tires eventually, multifunctional allen tools, spare spokes, others)

you know, on my last cycling holidays i saw guys riding with the absolute basic stuff and they had a good trip !! i guess it is lady luck
