I'm currently cycling a large distance each day (approximately 30-40 miles). During the day I start to develop a pain at the top of my shin just below my knee. The pain occurs at different times each day and is usually ok the next morning, however the pain returns quicker the next day during cycling.
The pain does not seem to be muscular but rather coming from either the top of my shin bone or from within the joint itself. It is a dull pain that is uncomfortable rather than agonising. It is more noticable when there is weight or pressure on the knee. My knee also seems to seize up if left in the same position for a short period of time (15-20 minutes).
I'm completely clueless to what the problem might be, but whatever it is cycling appears to aggravate it.
I'm wondering if anybody has had a similar problem and might be able to shed some light on the cause, some prevention or solution to the problem and opinions on whether I should seek medical advice?
