Sure, it's a long way off but its a bloody long race (228km) and we gotta get into shape for it eh?
It will be the longest race I have ever done and I want any opinions on the course, conditions etc that anyone can give.
I've seen the course profile which already has me wetting my pants on a regular basis.

I've heard from some that its basically viewed as a ride more than a race and that as long as you can survive over the Gibraltar Ranges with a few other riders, everything will be okay.

Thoughts suggestions opinions?

Cheers

I am no expert here, if Anything, I am more of a newb then most. But I would have to ask, at 228km, with plenty of hills - What are you going to do for flats, toilet, food and drinks ??

You could treat it as a small group ride with some mates, and just stop and buy stuff and go potty when you need too. If you are even half serious, you would need a team car, with some spares, and have them ready to get you food/water etc.

Unless the race organizers are taking care of this ?? Is there a website ??

Feeding needs to be arranged by the rider. I will be racing with a mate from uni and another mate has voluntered to drive us there and feed/water us.
From memory spares (provide your own) either go into a neutral truck or are carried by your feeder.

As for the grade I think we'll be going in B

Tafi, 228 kms is some mean distance along the road between Grafton & Inverell.

Been there, done that.

If you are not pious, I suggest you adopt a god and pray to him/her the fair winds will not be in your face along that 228km road on that day.

eheheheh.
I've heard about the wind too.
But in my opinion it's an experience which must be taken at some stage or other.
Praying is all well and good but it won't help if you haven't done the training.
