Default touring in the UK

I was thinking about doing a short tour over the coming Easter break. I live in London and was thinking about going from Plymouth to Brighton or the reverse over 4 days. Has anyone done this in part or full and have ideas on good places to stay or routes? Any ideas on what the weather might be like? Any alternative tours might be interesting too.
Thanks, -d
