Need some help, PLEASE

Howzit all,<br /><br />I went and sold my Bianchi (Sorry VO2, had to) and in doing so nearly gave up cycling, but if you've got the bug, you've got it. I recently bought myself a Omega V-Max (Friday recently ;D ) (Look here http://www.cyclingforums.com/index....120;boardseen=1) and rode my first race with it on Sunday.<br /><br />The following problems &amp;quot;popped&amp;quot; up:<br />1. My STi lever &amp;quot;dust cover&amp;quot; thingy comes loose. I tried to fix it on Saturday and found that the little screw which fixes this dust cover to the lever is the problem. After fixing this, the thing came loose again after the race that I did on Sunday. Would it be a problem if I took a little bit of Prestik put it onto the screw before putting it back on the lever?<br />2. My left hand feels like my legs after a &amp;quot;hellish&amp;quot; workout, i.e. no power. Can this be because of me holding onto the dust cover thingy (a funny way of holding the handlebars) for about 55km or should I seek medical attention?

ewep, sad to hear 'bout the Bianchi. When are you moving to the Vaal? I need a training partner.<br /><br />Instead of using Prestik, which becomes messy and looses it's &amp;quot;adhesiveness&amp;quot; after a while, why not go for something like Loctite Thread Fastener? Be careful to get the right one tho. Click here for a link to the product.

...as for your hand, it may be the difference between the &quot;grip angle&quot; of the Campy and Shimano hoods, seeing that you changed bikes recently. If it were me, I would give it some time to adapt. Failing that, your doc will have to help.

Vo2, thanks, I'll see if I can get hold of the stuff. If I use it, will i be able to get the screw out again though? The Loctite I know sticks like mad and you won't get the screw loose again.<br /><br />When did you move to the Vaal and where do you live?

Yep, it holds the screw tight enough for it not to rattle out, but the seal is easily broken with a slight turn of a allen key or whatever the case my be. It's almost like Tipp-Ex. But you have to get the right stuff - Loctite 222 - &amp;quot;Low Strength for Small Fasteners&amp;quot;. Some of the other adhesives will virtually &amp;quot;weld&amp;quot; the screw in place, so be careful.<br /><br />I've been in the Vaal for a number of years now. I live between Sasol and VanderBijl, next to the river.

I bought the Loctite yesterday. It has another name, but I spoke to a contact at Henkel SA and the person assured me that the product I bought was just the older version of the Loctite 222 that Vo2 pointed me to.<br /><br />On the hand issue, might it be that the &amp;quot;powerloss&amp;quot; is caused by my STi levers not being straight. The levers tend to be a bit towards the center of my hb (try picture it /____\ ). If this might be the cause, the ppl I bought the bike from assured me that tehy would fix it. How should my STi's be positioned?
