Default Indiana area???

I was just curious to see if anyone here is in Indiana. There is not much around here or at least not in my home town & I would like to find some people who might know of some good trails to go ride that might be somewhere close to central IN. I wouldent mind finding some new people to ride around with as well. I'm not a pro or an endurance rider or anything like that. I currently ride about an avarge of 20 to 30 miles a day around town, but it getting boring really fast. I like to see & try new things & dont mind getting somewhat beat up to have some fun. So I'm up for just about anything that involves two wheels & some dirt.
Anyway it would be nice to hear from anybody who might know of some good places around here worth looking into.

I am a native of Indiana (now in Texas), but I can offer a few ideas. You said trails, so do you ride on or off road? If off road, Fort Benjamin Harrison (east side of Indianapolis) used to have some great off road trails back before it went civilian and became a state park. Now they do not allow mountain bikers on the dirt trails. If you are ever free to travel near Bloomington and Nashville, there used to be a mountain biking park somewhere down near that area. For the life of me I cannot remember what road or how to get there, but check with a bike shop near there and they should be able to help you out.

If you ride ON road, not sure what to say there. I used to know some road riders from Anderson who seemed fairly active as far as rides and a club. You could also check out Muncie and West Lafayette. Best of luck and keep riding!

Hell, I just reread your post. You make it pretty clear you meant off road riding. Ah well...Central Indiana is real flat and pretty boring as far as I recall (I am a native of Muncie). If you can spare the money I would say buy a road bike for around the county and travel for mountain biking on weekends.

I almost wish I would have bought a road bike when I got this one, but I think if I would have it would be in pieces by now. I'm pertty rough on bikes. I rode BMX & Freestyle as a kid so I guess I'm still stuck with those habbits. I hope to start finding some new things soon. A good friend has just ordered a new bike & we ride together all the time so we will be ventureing out to some better places now. His dad lives in Michigan & he goes up ther quite a bit so were going to check that out to see whats there as well. I'm sure I'll be able to dig up something, I just wish there was more close to me.
