Hi...wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I've been having with my morning 7-8 km commutes...I'm warm enough on the bike on the ride in but after, for about 2-3 hrs, I am chilled to the bone.
I'm not lingering outside in cool temperatures when I'm off the bike. My lock up area for the bike is less than 25 feet from my office entrance and I get changed directly into my work clothes. My biking gear consists of cycling shorts, layered with a pair of cycling tights with windproof fronts. I have a polar therm turtleneck and on colder/windier days, I wear a tshirt over it, followed by my windbreaker jacket. On very cold days, I wear a polar therm cap or balaclava under my helmet. Like I said I'm not cold on the bike, nor am I sweating profusely. Any insights or suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks

I can't say what it is -- I'm not a doctor, trainer, or sports professional -- but I often experience the same thing. It's just something about cooling down after a vigorous workout. After I dismount in the morning, I keep a sweater on until my body temperature evens out. Nothing to worry about, just your body adjusting. Going from activity in cold to sedentary in warm is a big change.

Thanks ... the issue seems to be abating since the weather is getting warmer in the morning.
I've also been experimenting with different types of breakfast foods to see if it makes a difference what I ate before I got on the bike or what I ate after the ride.

That happens to me if I don't change -- the cold in between the layers works its way through. But I also try and "cool down" on the last stretch across the parking lot.

I can't offer any advice, but I feel the same thing after riding on cold days -- even if I have a nice hot shower straight after the ride.

I have the opposite problem - I'm always really hot when I finish my rides. Never gotten cold. Lucky me I guess :P.

not sure if this will help since you're traveling to work... but I'm the same... I'm comfortable on my bike with knee warmers, shorts, arm warmers, shortsleeve jersey, a tanktop base layer... after the ride my core is pretty chilled especially in the outer thighs and hips... i'll take a shower and change into some jogging gear and jog around the block a bit w/ my dog...stretching also helps as this sends fresh warm blood from the heart straight to your muscles...
