went for my first ride since camp. God, I am so wasted! I
don't know if it's the heat and not sleeping at night or just recovery. Des and went out to try and beat the heat. We start with the 2 mile pedal up to the tower... oh, it just hurts!! And it's hot! But I try and practice my front wheel hops over or up onto some of the rocks in the trail. Nice little jump over this one berm that then throws you into a back, upwards U-turn. Then going down, the first descent, an unfamiliar portion of the trail, almost overgrown with vetch. I can see it's contagious... maybe I could do a little jump here, maybe one there...and then on to the rutted tire turn. I usually clean this unpleasant, canted, rutted steep thing, but not without real concentration. Today, it was just flow... not going to let those stupid ruts get in my mind this time, no sireebob! Then, onto the Piney Switch backs. Instead of the usual 1/3, I get 2/3, but after multiple attempts on #3 I give up and keep going. We hit the flow on John's trail, and it's a blast taking all those little jumps. Nothing big mind you... never mind what slacker will say, but just trying to reinforce what I learned at camp so it will come naturally. But both of us are wasted, tired. We hit the last stretch, taking some rocky techinical lines that we haven't before. At the bottom, we decide to take the easy way back, on the paved bike trail, instead of climbing up and over again. Back where the cars are parked at the golf course, back up the hill for one more berm, and then a little teeeny launch off the curb. Can't wait to keep working on things. Penny |

(I actually remember being able to learn like that) Adults have to learn by muscle memory. You have to practice all the time to keep the muscle memory going. |

I almost bit it on a 8' ladder today. It wasn't a skinny or anything just a 3 path stunt built on top of a broken willow tree that was hit by lightning then was built up to be a ladder with three paths (small, meduim and big). Normally I just flow over it but I trying new pads (Roach FR arm and shin) and I was hot and fatigued. |
