Although I'm thinking of creating the nancy route. Start at the same point but follow the route we did in week 1 and meet you guys at the point where teh Warrandyte route joins up again. That way I can avoid a) the death hills of Warrandyte, b) the 78kph descent (which I'm sure will result in my recurring head stem about to come loose paranoia), and c) hopefully you guys will be a bit worn out by then. So if there are any wusses out there, let me know. DaveB |

I wanna see someone texta in a Melways where this ride goes... failing that maybe a set of textual directions. whereis.com.au isn't spitting out what I need to see... grr.. I should get out and do some hills but don't wanna be holding people up or getting drop 5 mins into a ride. and 7.15Am.. urgh :P

"AM-Nancy" i'd give you text route but once we were off the north-south/east-west grid i was lost. Luckily Tony knew the way and once near Greensborough i recognised DaveB's ingeniously quiet backstreets route Ssaid corner to Shoppingtown, along Donc Rd to (lights before Springvale Rd) and turn left and left again at Sp'vale Rd. A right soon after (Old or 'new' Warrandyte Rd) and then i think Andersons Rd. Awesome rolling climbs/descents (That 78kph is getting beat this time!) and then lots of 'onwards' until roundabout reached and then.... Oh bugger. Tony?

Yeah, I'm even worse than that. I have to ride a loop about 50 times before I remember how it goes.. >Luckily Tony knew the way and once near Greensborough I don't even know where Greensborough is! >then i think Andersons Rd. I'm not suited to be climbing anything but curbs! ![]() I wanna know the route so I can do it solo before I embarass myself in front of others :S (can't blame alcohol, see?) ![]()

Here goes: We did Cnr Thompsons Rd / Mannningham Rd Along Manningham to Doncaster Shoppingtown Turn east along Doncaster Rd Turn North-East into Old Warrandyte Rd North along Springvale Rd Shortly after turn east into Tindals Rd Turn right into Harris Gully Rd, i think it becomes Yaara St into Warrandyte Turn North over bridge over Yarra. This is KangarooGround-W'dyte Rd. This goes for awhile. Finally hit roundabout and turn right onto Eltham-YarraGlen Rd. Take next major left which is STILL called Eltham-YarraGlen Rd! Awesome descent and down to Tintersection. Turn left into Hurstbridge Rd. Go along for awhile (Im gettin a bit vague hereabouts) and thru BIG roundabout and onto Diamond Creek Rd. At next BIG roundabout stay left (big downhill. beat the 70kph sign!) and down to Greensborough. Stay left as you go up short/sharp hill and thru mall-type streetand turn at lights into Grimshaw St. Turn left into 'side' street and immedialtey right. go around school and through a series of backstreets until you hit the Watsonia Army Base and then head right up Yallambie Rd to Greensborough 'Highway' and down hill (watch startled drivers as you pass em:-0 ) and down to Lower Plenty Rd-Right and left into Rosanna Rd. Down to Heidelberg. Straight thru, cutting and then roundabout straight ahead onto Lower Heidelberg Rd. Droul over Pinarellos, Lampiers, Bianchis in Ivanhoe Cycles windows and then onto Fairfield Papermills. Turn left into Chandler Hwy, across yarra and South across Fwy and at roundabout left into Kilby Rd. At Doncaster/kilby/Burke lights you take Doncaster Rd and onto chateau d'FD or back toward start. Maybe add some more bits in this week?

sheesh!!
that's some ride fellas... i was intrigued in joining you, but i doubt the jello legs on the duallie would be able to keep the pace... I'll be out riding Sunday, but definitely taking the 'wuss route'... trails through deepdene, camberwell, ashburton, and south yarra and then up to a slow, recovery coffee at Kanteen, before taking the yarra trail home... sounds much more civilized! |
